Sea Grape Growth And Sea Grape Wine

Sea grapes are a tropical species, unlike those grown here in the United States. They hail from warmer regions such as Puerto Rico, Bermuda, and other areas among the Caribbean region. Their growth is very slow, partly due to the harsh wind conditions near the coastal areas. Usually, these wind conditions, as well as halting the growth of the plant, keep them at a small compact size.

On a coastal line that is significantly less exposed to much wind, with sandy soils receiving an annual rainfall of approximately 1500 mm in northeastern Puerto Rico, average heights of 0.9 and 2.9 m were recorded for 1- and 3-year-old plantings (Parrotta 1994). This absence of the windy conditions also enables the plant to grow faster and slightly larger than those being bombarded by coastal winds that cause slow growths.

Fast growing grapes from plants and vineyards in other regions often have another characteristics than seeds and grapes from the regions where sea grapes grow. We all do have different preferences when it comes to grape fruits, but many are huge fans of sea grape wine. You should try yourself if you haven't already done so.
