Painting wine motives is fun - Learn how to paint grape vines and grape clusters

If you are creating a little theme for your kitchen or bath a great design to use are grape vines and grape clusters.

Using the design around door ways and on the corners of cabinets can add a touch of class and style to any room.

You will need: acrylic pains in; dark and light purple, gold, dark brown, dark and light green. Paint brushes, pencil and cup of soapy water for rinsing your brushes.

1) Decide where to place your design. With a pencil lightly draw a line, it does not need to be straight, you can start with a curl and then wave it down around a corner to create another curl. Create little stems that hang from different points of the vine you have created.

2) Create grape leaves. There are great images that can be found to help you with this, grape leaves typically have five areas, two small a large and two more small, in a some what shape of a heart. Be sure to add small jagged pieces for the leaves this will add depth and dimension.

3) No create clusters of grapes along the vine as well. Start off by drawing a line of 8 circles, you can have them overlapping to make them appear more realistic, add another row to the bottom of this row with only 6 circles, continue to create rows until you have one circle remaining for the end of your grape cluster. If you want larger clusters start with more circles initially or for smaller use less. You can find images online of grapes to help give you an idea of what to draw. Even if you aren't very artistic, if you can make a circle and a straight line you can draw grapes.

4) Now begin to paint, for the grapes use the lighter purple that you have chosen to color each grape, then use the darker to accent the grapes creating shadows and edges. Paint the leaves using the darker color and the lighter to highlight areas such as veins in the leaves. Finally, paint the vine itself. Use a touch of gold to accent different parts of the wood.

Let the paint dry and enjoy your work.
