How To Remove Alcohol From Wine

There are many people who love the flavor of wine but do not want the alcohol. Also, for many religious services that call for wine, any intoxicating effects are severely frowned upon. So, over the years, wine makers and wine drinkers have come up with three ways of removing the alcohol from wine – adding bacteria, putting the wine through a reverse osmosis machine or boiling.

Of these processes, the easiest and most practical for the average person to do is boiling. It does, however, take a long time to do. You bring the wine to a boil, let it simmer until the wine reduces to a jelly. You then take it off of the heat and add water back in to make it drinkable or use it for cooking. Cooks claim that even just heating the wine in a microwave greatly reduces the alcohol content.

I guess the above processes should work with other alcoholic drinks as well, such as beer and liquor bottles, but I seriously doubt it will be good enough for drinking. I can see the point in alcohol removal when you are cooking, but otherwise just stay away from alcohol drinks.
