Quick tips for bargain wine

There isn't a sensible person alive that doesn't love a bargain, but that sensible individual wouldn't fancy the short end of the deal. The question you ask yourself when you spot a tag that seems to good to be true is......well is it too good?

I’d say about 50 percent of the "great buys" I find turn out to be golden, but the other half turns out disappointing; in retrospect there isn't a tell tale way of finding gold on every trip, but here are a couple of things to look out for, based on my years of experience on the look out for the best deals.

Prior inventory: More often than not a winery will place sales prices on items that has been usurping shelve space without moving. it's rare to find this with any popular labels, but there's a great chance that you've found a legit bargain if that marked down wine came from a quote on quote "less trendy" regions such as Switzerland or Greece.

Damaged items: Any reputable shopkeeper wouldn't knowingly sell a bottle of wine full priced, if it has been treated harshly or has endured conditions such as being left in the loading dock basking in the summer sun. It's unfortunate that wine that has been "cooked" will more often than not, be rendered undrinkable. on the flip side to this debacle, if you only notice crystal formation, don't fret these are known as innocuous tartrate crystals and rarely affect the wine; Regardless of how well you know the store staff, it's always within your best interest to ask questions., otherwise your just left with the risk of an eye catching price tag.
