The making or mixing of wine is a process called wine making. You begin with an assortment of grapes or other fruits and produce which is used to finish and bottle the wine. The majority of wine is made from grapes, but some types of wine are also used from fruits such as strawberries. One type of wine, for example, is made with primarily with honey and water. This type of wine is called Mead.

After harvesting and collecting grapes used in wine, they are crushed and left to ferment for around 5 to 14 days. For certain types of wines there may be a second fermentation of around 2 to 10 days. Fermentation is important in wine making since it is what turns the grapes into an alcoholic beverage when the sugars mix and interact with the yeast, creating the end result of ethanol.

Another type of wine, sparking wines, are made through a second fermentation where the beverage is covered to keep the carbon dioxide inside of the drink after mixed. That is what gives the drink it's sparkle, or bubbles. This example of wine making is used to make drinks such as Champagne.

Another type of wine would be the sweet wines. Making this type of wine is usually made by freezing the grapes after harvest for a period of time in order to keep the sugar trapped inside before crushed and fermented. This gives the wine a nice sweet taste. Some examples of this type of wine making would be a result of a high proof brandy.
